Another great day on the bayou! Our devotion for the day is from Isaiah 58:
“Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors! Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes."
One of our homeowners, Nolan, wanted to keep a little of the past alive in his new home. His home has been elevated to 11 feet and will have a beautiful screened-in porch. The team is working on siding, constructing walls and ceiling for the porch.

Just a few more interesting stories for the day:
Miss Justine is a home at the end of the earth! She had lived in her home for 30 years, raised 7 children and two months before Katrina hit she buried her husband. Her home was flooded with Rita and unsalvageable. Her new home was built behind the old one on an elevation approximately 11 feet above the ground. We did a complete teardown. First much of the destroyed furnishing had to be removed. As you can imagine the walls were infested with cockroaches, salamanders, and squirrels. The homeowner is going to enjoy a new view soon!
Isaac's home is receiving a new kitchen from head to toe. This is a complete tear-out even removing the floorboards and putting in new bracing. Isaac and his wife are a couple who have much family in the area. One of the sons helped do the tear-out and was waiting for the cement truck to deliver the new driveway.
