It’s a beautiful day in the bayou with the sun shinning and the rainwater subsiding from the rainstorm we encountered Monday night. Thunder, lightning and torrential rain is a really interesting phenomenon when dwelling in a cardboard pod!

Visited the team working on Paula and Butch’s home constructing a bedroom for their youngest daughter who is going to beautician school next year to support herself while going to art school. This family has been dealing with devastation since the mid 80’s when hurricane Wayne hit the Louisiana coast. Butch has been on disability for the past 20 years with serious back surgery and now a neurological disease. As a welder he has lots of skills and has slowly been making their home livable when finances and energy have allowed. Theresa, the daughter, has been sleeping in the living room and is most excited to have a room of her own. She will be painting murals on her new bedroom walls and dolphins are her specialty. Again as we have seen so often, much of the family lives in the immediate area and they all help each other in time of need.

You will see from the video Paula was presented with a prayer shawl knitted by the Presbyterian Women from Plymouth. This is a ministry that several churches in our Detroit Presbytery are involved.
